Many authors advise to partner with a programmer. But there may be different situations. The partner programmer is not ready to turn into a manager by the time the project is launched. He remains the same developer who is no longer needed. Where to look for a partner? This is a good question. In a classic business, similar people often partner with each other, and they’re good. Finding the team
The methodology has a classic model of how to look for partners for a startup -hipster, hustler, hacker. These are the roles that have to be assigned. The person who handles marketing, promotion, analytics, and project management is the hipster. The other partner, the person who knows how the inner workings of the project are done, the technical part of it, the development, is the hacker. And finally, I’m the hustler – the person who will give the product life, make a hype out of it, and take care of the creative part. People need to see that the product has a face.
Minimum plan for the team: you have to have one developer, one designer, and you and your partner. With one developer without a designer, it’s going to be difficult and wrong. With one designer without a developer, you can’t do anything at all. Where to look for them? You have to form an idea and present it in a certain way. If you present it badly, you need to learn how to do it urgently. Regardless of what role you took, you have to sell the product to everybody, including your team.
When the idea is formed, when you are burning with it, when you can describe it to other people in all colors and with all passion, you have to go to find a team – a developer and a designer. Visit thematic forums, similar events, ask your friends if they have anyone in mind. Describing your idea to potential employees, say that “you become part of my early team, and for you I will make sure that when we launch, your salaries will be much higher than the market, your status in the company will be high, trust me, this idea will conquer the market, and we will bring it to life!”
Any fairly experienced developer or designer evaluates, when you sell them your idea, whether you can go your way, whether it’s really going to be good. That is, they need to have faith in you. And the better a person’s idea-selling skills, the cooler the idea itself, the more this idea suits your first engineer or designer, the less they will demand payment and the more they will believe you.
